As I mark the fifth anniversary of launching my LLC, I am humbled by the outpouring of congratulations and support from the incredible individuals I've had the privilege of crossing paths with throughout my career journey. But amidst the celebrations, there's a realization that each year, this milestone anniversary transports me back to a moment of uncertainty. This day fundamentally altered the course of my career.
Initially, it felt like a heavy challenge. Little did I know, it was the Universe's gentle nudge toward a path I could never have envisioned for myself.
Launching my consulting business was my way of reclaiming control over my career trajectory—a decision that has since opened doors to a myriad of opportunities and experiences I never thought possible. The past five years have been a whirlwind of growth and transformation, from swiftly acquiring clients to remaining receptive and embarking on full-time roles.
In retrospect, it's astonishing to contemplate the breadth of achievements and milestones that have characterized this journey:
Building a dynamic MARCOM team from the ground up.
Spearheaded multiple product launches and portfolio strategies.
Collaborating with research teams to uncover consumer insights that drove substantial brand growth.
Overseeing the inception of three websites and navigating an e-commerce overhaul.
Cultivating a supportive network of talented women and forging friendships with remarkable agencies.
Crafting brand and shopper strategic plans for esteemed international organizations.
Assuming the role of company spokesperson, authoring impactful articles and co-authoring a high-profile annual report.
Steering social strategy and optimization efforts to maximize engagement and reach.
Serving as a chair and member on a non-profit board to grow CPG in the DFW Metroplex.
Transitioning from being a guest speaker in the university setting to becoming an adjunct marketing instructor.
Amidst the professional triumphs, I am reminded of this advice imparted by a former leader: "You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.” And then I think of the quote by John David Washington, “Whenever you're feeling moments of discomfort, that means true change is happening for you. In life, we all have moments of peaks and valleys — happy times and sad times; simple days and chaotic days; easy tasks and challenging tasks.” This mantra and my faith have remained a guiding light during moments of uncertainty, propelling me forward with the unwavering belief that greatness often resides beyond our comfort zones.
To those navigating periods of transition or adversity, I offer this reminder: never forget who you are, what you offer, and the value you bring to the table. As I continue my journey, I am filled with profound gratitude for the lessons learned, the connections forged, and the opportunities seized. I’m also immensely grateful for all I’ve partnered with to meet those above accomplishments and for my faith in leading me there. I couldn’t have made it where I am today without my faith, grit, professional and personal village, and the mentors who’ve come along the way. Here's to embracing change, cultivating resilience, and finding the sunshine amidst life's uncertainties—after all, you never know where the light may lead you.
